I decided to take advantage of some GREAT fall weather this year,
and took my first-ever solo bike trip. (Everyone else was either
in school or at a pesky JOB.) It was also my first bike
ride over 500 miles in almost 30 years, since I rode 1250 miles
down the west coast with my wife in 1987.
This trip was WAY more fun than I had expected! It really was not a problem passing the time reading my Kindle, although I didn't have as much time for that as I had thought. Bike tripping in September brings unique challenges in addition to the cooler weather, in that the daylight is so short compared to June or July biking. One other aspect of this trip that was unusual for me is that I stayed indoors the entire time -- no need to carry a tent and sleeping bag! It turns out I had friends and family members to stay with for six of the nights, and so I decided to spring $55 for a cheap hotel on the Sparta-Elroy bike trail to save the extra weight. Below are a some photos I took with my Nexus 5X cell phone. Note: You can also see these on this Facebook album, if you want to comment on any photo. - Tom Arneberg (toma@arneberg.com) Weights:
