2000 Annual Barbershop Show
of the
Polk County Chapter of
SPEBSQSA

My quartet, CHIPS, had the privilege of singing on the Polk County Chapter show in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. (See the show page for more info.)

I had my digital camera with me (Mavica FD88), so I thought what the heck, I'll take a shot of everything I can! I got some of the drive up there (great fall colors, although hard to capture from a moving vehicle), some of the ushers getting ready for the matinee show, the sound guy, the performers on the show, the meal between the two shows, the evening show, and the afterglow. Hope it's not too many pictures for you -- view at your own risk! ;-)

Balsam Lake, Wisconsin is a very small town, population 749. But don't worry, the dinner and the afterglow were held in nearby bustling metropolis of Milltown, population...er...732.

But these pictures are perhaps more interesting than those of other chapter shows, due to the other guest quartet. Expanded Sound, from the St. Louis area, is one of the funniest quartets around. They are most famous for their "Biker" act, where these mild-mannered professionals take on the persona of a biker gang. (If you haven't already done so, you MUST read their diary of their 1997 appearance on the Jerry Lewis Telethon. It's one of the best quartet stories ever told!)

With no further ado, here are the pics. Click on any one to get a larger version.

Enjoy,
