Arneberg bike trip to Duluth, 2007
After talking about it for months (years?), some of the Arneberg Boys decided to finally try bicycling to Duluth. Tom (47), Jasper (13) and David (11) already had a lot of experience with camping and backpacking with their Boy Scout troop. But Jasper and David had never biked more than 30 miles in one day in their life -- and yet we biked 173 miles in just over 48 hours, even carrying our tents, sleeping bags, clothes, food and tools!! We left on a Wednesday after work, hoping to arrive in Duluth by Sunday. We crossed over the bridge Friday afternoon.

We used some great county bike maps that have roads color-coded to signify suitability for biking.

Schedule:
Wed 34 miles 3:30pm-9:00pm Chippewa Falls to Chetek
Thu 64 miles 5:55am-6:00pm Chetek to Minong
Fri 75 miles 6:50am-3:30pm Minong to Duluth

Here are a some photos I took with my FZ30 camera. (For more info, read the newspaper column about this trip.)
