After talking about it for months (years?), some of the Arneberg
Boys decided to finally try bicycling to Duluth. Tom (47),
Jasper (13) and David (11) already had a lot of experience with
camping and backpacking with their
Boy Scout troop. But Jasper and
David had never biked more than 30 miles in one day in their
life -- and yet we biked 173 miles in just over 48 hours, even
carrying our tents, sleeping bags, clothes, food and tools!!
We left on a Wednesday after work, hoping to arrive in Duluth by
Sunday. We crossed over the bridge Friday afternoon.
We used some great county bike maps that have roads color-coded to signify suitability for biking. Schedule:
