Arnetour 2012: Biking to the Dells

On July 4-7, 2012, my sons Simon (12) and David (16) Arneberg and I embarked on our annual family bike trip. This year we went southeast, to Wisconsin Dells. But we went via Wabasha, Minnesota, a route that featured over 150 miles of off-road bicycle trails.

Unfortunately, it was one of the hottest weeks in history, with the mercury soaring to over 100 degrees three days in a row! To beat the heat, we woke up at 4:45 a.m. and were biking by sunrise (5:30 a.m.) each day. We also drank a lot of water and stopped any where we found air conditioning!

Schedule:

Wed 70 miles Chippewa Falls to Wabasha, MN
Thu 80 miles Wabasha to La Crosse/Holmen
Fri 70 miles Holmen to Elroy, WI
Sat 40 miles Elroy to Wisconsin Dells
